A supremely geriatric movie but if you imagine you're in an elderly home and can't sleep, this is perfect. We applauded at the end like 80 year olds would do

An enjoyable piece of semi factual story telling. There is a good parallel plot/sub text of a lost woman finding her voice, played flawlessly by Sally Hawkins, which brings some gravitas to an otherwise fairly lightweight scenario.

How this project became more annoying than interesting is beyond me.

An interesting story that's told in a bland way, but at least there's Sally Hawkins and Steve Coogan to inject some class. The value of this film is to reveal to the general public the corrupt state of universities in the 21st century as supposed institutions of teaching and learning (it's all a scam, they just want your money). For Frears, the moral of the story appears to be to always question ableism, which is of course important but here this message lacks sincerity and nuance.

Woman wants to dig a hole, lots of men are against it, digs a hole anyway, the end.

While the film features a strong performance by Sally Hawkins and an engaging true story, it is hindered by a weak screenplay, disorientated direction, and an inconsistent tone. The film ultimately falls short of delivering a satisfying and memorable experience, despite some charming moments.

I never fail to enjoy watching Sally Hawkins performances. Her role as Phillipa Langley echoing her brilliant off the wall characters that she plays so well. I now feel the need to educate myself with this historical and slightly obserd event. My only problem, I was still waiting for her husband at the poignant moment of discovery to echo the words "Aha!" Sorry Steve Coogan !
