Russell Crowe has rarely had a performance on this level. He captured all the reasons Roger Ailes was nasty and vile and all the things he hid behind closed doors. The narrative is sprawling and at times has pacing issues as people weave in and out with little to no bearing on the actual end result. 5 episodes would have been better with less time spent on the trivial matters and more time bringing light to the horrendous man Ailes was and the impact his power had on the people he abused.

Entertaining, engrossing saga, anchored by a brilliant turn by Crowe, who captures the charisma of Ailes the "front" man, along with the vile and heinous man behind-the-scenes - though it's a shame that more isn't done to present Ailes' personal life with more (pardon the pun) thrust and clarity; the series at times feels both too long and too short, by focusing on both Ailes *and* FOX news, who could both sustain their own TV series! Some on-the-nose historical dialogue is forgivable.
