Not for everyone, I suppose, but odd and very funny, often with a nice nasty edge.

Starts slow, but turns into an interesting, off-beat film around the halfway point. Marred by some terrible ADR.

Too busy with eccentricities and social satire for actual comedy. Drags like no other by the midpoint, I can't seem to care much.

Watched this on TV having no idea what it is about other than the synopsis there. There are some funny scenes and it leans towards the absolutely ridiculous sometimes. Just the way I love my comedies

Not without flaws--it lacks Waugh's bite and his restraint--but a fun cynical movie, nonetheless, although a bit heavy-handed.

Nicely weird little movie. You'll never see a film like *this* get made ever again

Tony Richardson's savage satire on the funeral industry has some of the flaws that marked his TOM JONES: overlength, unevenness, a thin narrative--but it also happens to be quite funny. A great cast of grotesques: Jonathan Winters as "the Blessed Reverend" and his desperate brother; Rod Steiger as an unnerving mortician and Ayllene Gibbons as his food-fetishist mother; Robert Morse as the befuddled hero, and many others. Searing script, and delightfully off-kilter direction; great gruesome fun.

Some surreal interest, but in all honesty, I can't stand the big social satire film. I could have read it in a paragraph and not enjoyed it any less, rather than watching a film for two hours.
