Old guy's speech to the money-men not to fuck it up seemed the whole point, more a heart-felt tribute to the medium than the man,

Robert Donat in a tribute to one of the main pioneers of the moving picture business - William Friese-Greene. Perhaps even more interesting as it feels like it is one of the earliest examples of a cameo picture, with anyone who was anybody in the British movie industry showing up for small roles. Most notably Laurence Olivier as a police man. The film is perhaps a little too sentimental for it's own good, but it's sweet in that old melodramatic way, plus you can play "Spot the actor".
