The Maiden Heist

Overridden by a strangely forced whimsy: imagine a cut-rate acolyte of Wes Anderson tasked with creating a heist comedy for the 40+ market. There are jarringly incongruous stop motion and fantasy sequences, but what really halts this is the attempt to beat irony into a test-market comedy model. The teary art appreciation starts things saggy, and the comic element is meaningless coming from such one dimensional characters. The best thing here is Freeman quietly hiding behind some cotton candy.

Not anything groundbreaking as a movie. But this is a very warm and humble comedy and to watch four godlike actors -not "stars"- on a small tour-de-force without stepping over each other is a great joy for any serious fan.

a very VERY tame heist movie, there's almost no excitement to it, and the comedy is lite and hit and miss. the best part of this movie is watching macy get naked every ten minutes, the rest can be skipped.

They tried to save money by not doing a script. Which was an error.

Tough guys obsessed with paintings. William H. Macy almost makes this worth watching. Christopher Walken married to Marcia Gay Harden?? WAY out of his league.

Lot of wasted potential with such a brilliant cast. They didn't have much to work with, script-wise. A real shame this wasn't a gem.

Such wonderful actors in a pretty dreadful film. What a waste of talent was this one.

Some great actors, but a spark is missing. Still quite enjoyable for a sunday afternoon.

You can tell this exactly how the story is going to go by watching the first five minutes which is so cliched and tired that it could be a parody of this type of film. Incidentally the only reason I watched a chunk of this film was to test the audio on my phone by watching this on iplayer after I dropped my phone in the toilet

Can't wait for the special edition disk when they replace William H. Macy's @ss with a cartoon smiley face. THEN it will be an enjoyable movie.

I took a chance on this movie and am glad that I did .Christipher Walken plays a different role than we are used too and Freeman and Macy are also excellent . A good movie.
