The Maker

The animation is beautiful and expressive, with the creature being surprisingly emotive. Sure, for most of it you're just watching this thing create something, and no matter how gorgeous it is, it wouldn't be deserving of anything more than an 80 (which is still hugely respectable). However, that ending puts it all into context and adds the proper oomph; it's not even that difficult to understand. Just appreciate life, work for happiness, find those people/things you love.

The music was really the key to making this work. The violins really set the mood and added tension to the story. The ending was both bitter sweet and slightly disappointing.
