The Guy Ritchie clone shivered, squinting against the lab's lights. "We got this one out too soon. His genitals haven't even solidified yet! This was a mistake," one of the men behind the one-way glass remarks. The executive sighs. "Listen. We got deadlines, the studio needs this movie done, and RitchiePrime feels it is beneath him. So these clones disintegrate quickly, who cares? We got two Holmes films out of Ritchie5, this one can do a bland PG-13 spy movie. Just trash him afterwards."

It's Ritchie being Ritchie and that's really all I want. Easily his best movie in years; a compelling and funny spy movie in a year that already has a bunch of those. I have to give special attention to the soundtrack and the casting. Cavill, Hammer and Vikander all have an "old movie" timeless quality to them in different ways. Sometimes shots go on too long, occasionally without a proper payoff but that's a minor gripe. Story isn't amazing but its good, faults covered by the humor and cast.

What really hurt this film was how poorly cast it was. Armie Hammer as a Russian? And you can't help but wonder if someone with actual charm was playing Solo instead of Cavill. Picture a younger Clooney and you'll see what I mean. Nothing about this was very memorable yet it wasn't boring. I must've dosed off at some point because I had no idea what they were trying to do half the time. The missile scene was very good though and more Vikander in movies please! Very average all around

Superman vs the Lone Ranger as a behind the scenes lead-in to Batman vs Superman, mebbe? Anyway, this 60's TV cold war reboot has it's summer fluff moments; many of them involving "Ex Machina"'s versatile and cute-as-hell Alicia Vikander. In fact my favorite scene is a semi-throwaway with her out of focus in the background dancing in men's pajamas. Looking at the poster and during most of the movie with Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin (the coolest name ever) being clean shaven, Gillette

It's a fun experience, with great music & clever montages. And Cavil has some quirky humor in him. But the movie loses some steam as you think about it. Unlike recent genre flicks like X-Men: First Class or Star Trek, the film doesn't expand much on the source material. So while the fashion and the music are authentic, you don't get much of the 60's optimism or humanity. It's a minor complaint (and maybe not an intention of the film), but something that keeps the picture at eye candy level.

The dialogue might not be up to snatch (get it?), but Ritchie brings style and energy enough to spark a hope that he has a new great film in him further down the so far undeniably bumpy road of his career. He could, possibly, reemerge as the British Tarantino. This time around, however, he offers up a nice little spy romp which is style over substance in every regard. This approach is a nice match to the reboot of the TV show. A cool soundtrack and the 60s era inspired score make it a good time.

Hey look! It's a reboot of a licensed property that actually doesn't suck! I have to give props to Ritchie and the cast because there's a lot of chemistry and charisma between the leads. The plot is really fun and I enjoyed the film's style. It's got that 60's spy vibe going on and I really dug the PIP scene transitions. The humor worked very well and overall the film is just so damn clever. My only gripe is that the pacing is a little shaky. You'll have fun with this! 3.5 STARS

It's pretty good. While coming out dangerously close to Mission Impossible, The Man from Uncle does more than enough to differentiate itself. I'd like to commend the cast who do a great job, and the director who nailed the 60's setting and soundtrack. However, beyond those two aspects, the film never reaches a full stride, in terms of story or action. I guess I hoped for a bit more, but I'm not disappointed.

Competent, but nothing new in the plot department. It looks like a spot on realisation of an episode of Archer, so hats off to Scholl & co. Despite a few diamond in the rough scenes, sadly the script comes out a touch flat. Overall, TMfU is the kind of film you'd switch on to watch with whoever you're seeing & at some point get distracted by whoever you're seeing.

It's a Guy Ritchie! A solid cast and really good character performances throughout buoys an upstart franchise-maker of a film. It's fun and it's shot/edited in an interesting way. I can see how people could say that everything wraps up pretty abruptly, but to me the brevity of the ending doesn't take away from the pretty excellent journey to get there. I do wish we could have explored the torturer character a little more. What an amazing soundtrack. I definitely want to see more of this team.

Insufferably pleased with itself from the get go. It's not as clever or well put-together as it thinks it is; Not to say the quality itself is the issue but the obnoxious self-assuredness that seeps through every aspect of the production killed it for me. For an example of pulling it off, see Kingsman.

Guy Ritchie really seems to enjoy himself with this homage to U.N.C.L.E and 60's spy films in general. He nails the look, the mood, the glamour, and provides a fun flick. Henry Cavill shows that there's much more in him than playing Superman. The script is too generic and the film could have used some more editing, but it was still a pleasant surprise, and elevated a notch or two by a kick-ass soundtrack which sounds like a mix of lost tunes by Morricone, Bacalov etc.

Guy Ritchie is such a strange filmmaker in my eyes. His style is somehow fashionable and suave, while also being ugly and dull. This film is often very stylish and cool - they certainly did not skimp on the lavish settings and gorgeous costumes - but it's also empty and sorta boring, a weak impersonation of the Swingin' 60s vibe it so badly wants to inhabit.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. innitially looked like a lot of fun and I was intrigued to see what Guy Ritchie would do with the source material following his success with Sherlock Holmes. But I found this to be one of most underwhelming and disappointing films of 2015. The story is forgettably serviceable, the acting & set pieces felt restrained and I struggled to invest myself in both Henry Cavill & Armie Hammer. Overall I surprisingly struggled to maintain interest and I expected much, much more.

A fun little cold war spy thriller, if a little slight compared to meatier genre fare. Guy Ritchie's stylish flair fits better here than in his Sherlock Holmes films, where it feels overbearing. The set pieces are set up really well and John Mathieson's photography makes the film a joy to look at. As far as performances, Alicia Vikander is the stand out. Cavill and Hammer are competent at best.

A lot of fun if a little vapid. I saw it late in 2015. At the time it came out, I wondered if we really needed a silly, over-the-top spy flick in the post-Skyfall era. Apparently the movie adaptation of a TV spy series from the 1960s - which most people hadn't even heard of, myself included. Overall it felt more like a somewhat-overlong genital-flaunting contest than anything especially thrilling (the last chapter twists and chases mostly made me shrug), but when it all wrapped up I still had a slightly-satisfied smirk on my face, which is more than I can say for most of the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Probably the worst spy movie I've ever seen. About an hour in, sitting in the theatre, I began thinking "...What else is on?" I mentally checked out from then as my mind wandered to anything but the movie, as the scenes blurred from one to the next. At no time did I care at all about any of the characters or the plot. There are two attempts at humour that worked, but balance that out with sooo many that fall flat. It's like an "American Hustle" clone, and just as bad.

They show this movie in spy schools to encourage young spy wannabes to take a more absorbing career like plumbing. It has a great percentage of success! In the end who wants to end up being an idiot failing miserably at pretending to be cool to blend in with other idiots. Wait, I might have just spoiled the plot. Nonetheless, this movie is an outstanding member of the relatively new genre called comedy of disbelief where people cannot believe that someone would actually call this a comedy.

It is tough to hate Ritchie's film when it looks so good. The gloss and the ADHD editing works pretty well for a 60s-spy-throwback that doesn't take itself too seriously. The male leads aren't up to snuff, but Vikander, as per usual, is a marvel. Somehow it is boring in parts, which is probably a very bad sign for a film such as this.

There's an unexpected twist w/ Vikander, but the rest of this is reminiscent of the sillier Bond films where he had a lot of quips & only 2 personality traits: being ultra-cool & super awesome at everything. In this we get 2 of those perfect Bonds & no, 2 is not better than 1. The film is clearly trying to have fun w/ the idea, but that & the protagonists' unfailing brilliance only serves to lower the stakes. The jokes also failed for me & Cavill's super-slick affect feels strangely robotic

It was fun and enjoyable, and I did enjoy the three lead actors and their performances, but in the end the film didn't do much for me.
