I can say as a wrestling fan that every single movie WWE Films has put out has been garbage. Even if any of the guys on the roster had the charisma neccesary to carry a movie, the piece of garbage films they put out would kill them in the water. Cena's not awful in this, as he's got decent screen prescence, and Robert Patrick has some fun as the villian. However, the movie itself is the kind of sub-Seagal action crap that you'll forget 5 seconds after you watch it.

The best part of the movie was when the guy said to the T-1000 "this guy is like the terminator".

Not a very good movie. There is some action, some one liners, some stuff, but you don't really care about any of it.

John Cena delivers all the class and elegance you've come to expect from the WWE. What the movie lacks in thespian accomplishment, though, it makes up for with action straight out of a mid-80s Schwarzenegger flick. Characters, acting, plot, believability--these are not the point. The point is muscley man go smashy smashy bang boom pow, and go smashy smashy he does. Grab some buds and some brews, send your special lady off to watch The Hours with her friends, and just enjoy the explosions.

The Marine is the unwelcome first film to star John Cena following his transition from Wrestler to wanna' be movie star. I don't like wrestling and I dislike wrestlers starring in films even more so. But I regrettably gave this film a chance and I was bored from the outset. From the forgettable set pieces to the awful dialogue and acting, this is an absolute stinker of an action film. Robert Patrick offers the only glimmer of acting ability. But otherwise this is a complete waste of time.

Wow, just wow. Cena is amazing in this film about a man on a mission; a mission to kick b*tt!! If you love explosions you'll be pleased that the antagonists have a guy on their team who specialises in blowing things up ON PURPOSE! 10 thumbs up (out of 10) Also, liquid metal man.

When I figured out the movie was going to be completely boobless, and that Robert Patrick wasn't going to wag a finger at anyone, I turned it off. Probably somewhere after the 17th time Cena dodged a flying car in slow-motion or something. It'd get more points if Patrick was wearing a mirrored mask, and yelled "Cobra! Retreeeeat!" every time Cena hit one of his thugs with a flaming pickup.

A throwback to the 80s action film where everything explodes and people trade one-liners before offing each other. Only, it's somehow not as good.

A ridiculous 80s action film produced in 2006. The hero's muscles are bulging and the one-liners are flying, and it's all perfectly amusing. It's only a shame that it's PG-13, because some gore, tits, and F-bombs would have made it all the better.

The Marine may not be as popular or useful as other superheroes, but his super power - immunity to exploding buildings - could be useful one day.

Screw the military, and screw "professional" wrestlers. I don't need to see this movie to know it's utter trash, made for trash, by trash.

For a film that's sole purpose was to give wrestling fans a 90 minute film of John Cena blowing things up, I suppose that The Marine served its purpose. The plot is simplified and the action scenes are not all that well-made. It's not a bad enough film to provide constant laughter, but it's also not entertaining enough for non-WWE fans to get enjoyment out of it. Hardcore John Cena fans are the target audience, and they're also the only ones that are likely to get entertainment from The Marine.

Very generic action movie that doesn't do a lot to make it stand out. The score is beyond cheesy & sticks out like a sore thumb. The attempts at comedy here are just painful to watch. Robert Patrick does pretty good with what he's given, and John Cena is a decent lead (although he's definitely come a long way since this movie came out.)

A slam-bang actioner without a brain. This nonsense is reminiscent of the old '80s actioners, but not quite as fun, despite the presence of Robert Patrick, who gives the film its only life. John Cena is depicted as immortal and untouchable (just watch as he runs out of a burning building, after being blown up in it(!), and emerging unscathed). Cena couldn't act to save his life.

Not as bad as it gets, but not far away from that either. Unconvincing acting from John Cena and terrible and soo unrealistic story line that it hurts at times, specially in the ending.

It certainly does dole out slow-mo explosions and diving coupled with fighting sequences, but it's all eye candy, there's no story and the acting is hollow and boring.

I always find these type of films the toughest to rate...because it's a blast, but it's hard to call it good. Clearly, it's intentionally campy, and it almost doesn't know it's not the 1980s. Robert Patrick is all in, and I've always enjoyed the charms of John Cena. Recommended to fans of the genre...bad but fun? I dunno.

Ignore the score. This is one of the funniest movies ever made! I imagine that when they were making this movie, they had a little wheel out that would land on "action movie cliches", and then they would act them out. Cena is a savage, no one in this movie can shoot a gun worth a damn, etc. It's awesome/terrible.

Pretty God damn awful. The dialog is terrible, the pacing is terrible, the plot is mediocre, the characters are forgettable but I'll be damned if this wasn't fun to see in the theatre with my friends. We burst out laughing every time John Cena G.I. Joe'd out of explosions. It's one of those "so bad it's good" type films.

Hilariously bad, but therefor hugely entertaining and never boring. It’s like a parody of a bad action movie played completely straight. It’s completely cliché-ridden. It’s almost a feat that every moment, every line, every shot in this a cliché. . It such a pure representation of an action movie that if you look up action movie in a dictionary you see this movie. It's every trope or cliché rolled up in one movie, which entertained the hell out of me.

This movie is so hilariously bad it's an insult to anyone who is a marine. But that's mostly because of John Cena's attempt at acting and the script being the most generic action movie ever. The last act seriously makes no sense. Also this movie poster is hilarious, seriously just keep looking at it.

I don't know how I could have led myself to believe that this could have been a good mindless action film. Boy was I off.... this is quite horrible, the first 5minutes,the scene in Irak, shows what the rest of the movie is like. As others have said, the writing, acting, directing, pacing and even the action are all quite bad, and not even funny bad, just bad.

There's nothing really unique about this movie other than Cena's unconvincing acting. A cheesy soundtrack, cliche special effects, and Cena's implausible survival skills (he makes Rambo look vulnerable) make this one very missable unless you are an action film junkie.

Not a mindless but enjoyable action film, a mindless and tediously dull action film. The two characters that are anything more than cardboard cut-outs are so poorly developed that instead of adding depth as intended they are stretched wide and thin making them transparent. Explosions, guns, cars, sexy women and hulking men aplenty, but it's just not worth the stimulation of your adrenal gland when your frontal cortex shuts down out of boredom.

WWE's attempt at turning John Cena into the next generation of Chuck Norris results in being one of the most hilariously awful action movies you'll ever see. The action scenes are strung together with bottom of the barrel special effects. The dialogue is painful to listen to and has this cornball humor that will make your eyes roll. The plot practically makes no sense. If you're a member of the "Cenation" you'll enjoy but that's about it. 1.5 STARS

Robert Patrick is a much better villain than the film deserves and there is a pretty good car chase. That said, John Cena and Kelly Carlson are horrible and the script almost as bad. Still, pretty straightforward 80's actioner.
