A thriller about satanists caught in many of the trappings of its tradition, but still above average. It is elevated by stylisyic cinematography and a luxurious Jerry Goldsmith score. It may not be as scary as Goldsmith's cacophonous violin flourishes imply, but there is something interesting in the concept and an elegant subtlety, particularly in the cheeky ending.

All the seventies scary movie cliches are here: wide angle lenses, often smeared with vaseline, godawful lighting. It's redeemed a little by the total hotness of Jacqueline Bisset and a great discordant score from Goldsmith.

This lurid little chiller flirts a bit with The Devil Rides Out before heading off in its own direction to a reasonably interesting ending. Some decent direction, a few creepy moments and an effective Goldsmith score elevate this from schlock, and the dry script has some sharp moments. Alda and Jurgens are watchable enough, but it is the females who shine here, particularly Bisset. It's maybe a bit tame, and is by no means a classic, but has enough charm to make it worth a look.

One of Hollywood's hotter A horror films, laced with several jolts and helped along by Jerry Goldsmith's moody score.

any movie with Barbara Parkins gets extra points. Any movie with barbara Parkins naked - priceless!

It's pretty standard for the type of film and the time period, the only thing is that I'm just not into these films.

Total wannabe "Rosemary's Baby", right down to the ersatz-Polanski visual style. Jacqueline Bisset is pretty but as an actress she's a total clotheshorse. You can skip this one readily

Complex diabolical mumbo-jumbo with plenty of style.

This film is very inspired by "Rosemary's Baby", but unlike that film, it plays too many of it's cards too early. Both films are really slow, but while the slowness of "Rosemary's Baby" breeds suspense, here it has a tendency to breed tedium. It's not a bad film, and it has a lot of creepy visuals and interesting moments, but too much of it is Bisset trying to catch up with what the audience already knows.
