Takes itself way too seriously for a "comedy" aimed at kids. It has a few funny parts, I guess, but all the tiresome melodrama and formulaic plot points are a slog to get through. I'd be more surprised at this movie's popularity, except that it was made by Disney, and they have dark magical powers.

Its a feel-good sports movie. Rumor has it that because of their stunning comeback in winning the trophy the town was awarded a professional hoceky team. And this is how the Anaheim Ducks were formed. I believe this is a true story.

More or less enjoyable exercise of going through the underdog sports movie motions, though it’s held back a little by one of the dumbest misunderstandings I’ve ever seen when Bombay’s team quits for a while because they heard him obviously sarcastically telling the bad guy coach they suck. Still though the bunch of kids are pretty likable.

I love how comically villainous the rival coach and his players are. He literally sends a sneering goon out onto the ice to injure a child.

The evil coach hasn't aged in 20 years the fountain of youth is a kids hockey team shower. Would've been a stronger film if Gordon Bombay was haunted by darker childhood memories other than losing some house league game. Shockingly racist.

This is the best hockey movie I have seen. A lawyer sentenced to do community service. So he's stuck with a bunch of kids that don't know how to play hockey. His rivial team is up against him and it comes down to Charley to score the winning goal. They replay Emilio missing the penalty shot as he hits the posts. That was a huge thing in this movie as Charlie is reminded you miss it's ok. I think that's the message you want to send to people that winning isn't everything.

What The Bad News Bears and The Sandlot are to baseball, Mighty Ducks is to hockey. The Mighty Ducks is a hugely entertaining family film that, along with being very funny, is pretty serious and smart at times. Odds are, Emilio Estevez will never have a better film role. Really good!

It's alright as a feel good sports film for kids. Team of misfit underdogs, each with their own unique character traits, band together and overcome diversity to become champions. Yeah, you've seen this schlock before, but there's a reason why they made so many damn sequels. Likely aged terribly.

Generic yet strangely super popular kids sports film. The current TV adaptation has more character development than this. I think Charlie is supposed to be the star, but there's not much there. Averman probably had the best lines. I would have liked seeing Banks have more team development.

Well it isn't my type of film, but of its kind it isn't bad. The story is simpe but believable and the young cast are credible and give good performances. The acting is good (for the main part) and the morality driven plot isn't too 'in your face' It's not Hamlet, but its a good family/kids film

It does the job of a feel-good kids movie. Some aspects are a little too cutesy or paper thin. Also, I'm fairly certain that one scene has grown men playing instead of the kids. Certainly some fun to be had though.

A quacking good time! I remember being obsessed with this movie when I was a kid. I even bought the soundtrack to this film, which is still pretty good by the way. I just love a good sports movie and I think that Hockey as a sport translates into a film pretty well compared to other sports. I think Emilio does a great job as Gordon Bombay, a hotshot lawyer with an icy past who tries to redeem himself in his beloved sport by helping a kid's hockey team out...

This is your typical Hollywood sports movie. The script is very predictable with very few surprises. The cast does a good job with the predictable material. The script is ridicules and it does not make sense from a hockey perspective. Overall this film is disappointing but kids would probably enjoy it.

Formulaic sports comedy is essentially Bad News Bears on skates. It's inferior to both Matthau's original and Linklater's remake, mostly because it lacks edge. Estevez is never really convincing as a hot shot lawyer who hates kids. Perhaps that's why the director didn't press that angle, but it was still a bad casting decision nonetheless, and the kids are interchangeable and dull. How it spawned two sequels is anyone's guess. It's easy to see why Estevez's career tanked shortly after.

W4E2P1S1V1M1A0R3. Obviously shows some flaws when viewing as an adult, but the only revelation that really upset me was the idea that all these grown-ups--former coaches, friends, and even active NHL players--are so convinced that 30-something (5'6") Gordon is "NHL-LEVEL AWESOME" based solely on the fact that he was very good in a pee-wee league like 20 years earlier.

A pleasant, if unremarkable, kids sport film. Watching it for the first time in 2021 (pre-empting the Apple series), it is cliché-ridden but there's an earnestness in its goofiness that is mildly endearing. The ice-hockey scenes aren't particularly engrossing, and the Ducks sure do a lot of winning while the film espouses a 'winning isn't everything' moral, but it's fun enough to be watchable.

It’s difficult to be too harsh on this likable derivation of the underdog formula, especially with a spirited group of kids in the cast (including an already soulful Jackson) and Estevez, who plays his cardboard character with enough conviction to almost get you fully on-side. It is a minor shame that the screenplay never lets up with its careful, plodding hew to formula, providing absolutely no surprises and no real edge, which makes the film somewhat soporific, good-will aside.
