The Molly Maguires

Good performances, but the screenplay isn't great and neither is Ritt's earnest, unimaginative direction.

Thought I would watch some of the fairly sizable number of Sean Connery movies I haven’t seen yet. Turns out though that this movie really belongs more to Richard Harris (37 years old and not looking a day under 50) - Connery doesn’t even speak until 40 minutes in. The subject manner of coal mining in the 1800s and workers rising up etc is interesting, but the pacing is pretty languid. My interest dipped quite a bit by the end.
