So, with the third flick taking place 30 years after the previous one, and this one now 25 years after the last........where are we now? 1995? From a swamp where we last ended things in New England that mysteriously finds its way to wash the mummified ruins into Louisiana? Oh man, I love how highly the old studio system thought of their audience.

Final entry in Universal mummy series. Same repetitive plot - cult revives Kharis, reincarnation of princess Ananka appears, Kharis kills everyone in the way to get Ananka... if you have seen previous films you know the drill. It's funny how plot mysteriously changes the location of the event from New England to Louisiana, and how events are supposedly happening in ~1995, but no one even bothered to make it look like it is future, not '40s. Portrayal of the racial minorities is a highlight.

They moved things to the bayou, which could've been pretty cool, but they didn't do a damn thing with that and instead threw in some racism and lots of sexism and that's pretty much it. The series went out on a low.

For those willing to trudge through an half dead undead movie for a couple of atmospheric shots of the resurrected Princess roaming the swamps (of New England) go right ahead. This is another forgettable chore of a film and I'm so glad I'm done with Mummy movies.

Grading on a curve assuming these sequels gave young serial fans what they wanted back then but this starts promisingly by offering the possibility of something different (a female mummy joining Kharis), & then returns to formula by undoing the best part of the last film. The curse itself flip flops just to have Kharis chase a pretty girl around again & kill those who are too slow to avoid his turtle-like speed (2 potential victims fail to even notice him). & what’s w/ all the Cajuns?

Somehow, decades have passed since The Mummy's Ghost (released earlier the same year, and clearly shown to be a contemporary story!) and the action has magically shifted from New England to the Louisiana Bayou. Meanwhile, a deeply stereotypical comedy relief black laborer spends a lot of time running around yelling "De MUMMY is on de LOOSE an' he's DANCIN' wid de DEBBIL!" Silliest entry in the series still has some good, creepy visuals and some juice left in its veins.

Takes a big nose dive in quality from the previous entries with too many characters, too many stereotypes and too many unintentional laughs. The framework of the series is all mixed up and watered down to the point that bad guys aren't really that bad any more and good guys aren't really that good. They're just reacting by the numbers to a thread thin plot. Still, Virginia Christine is just about all I need to make it watchable.

Aside from the fact that the mummy is slower than any zombie this isn't that bad of a picture. It's fast paced and relatively thrilling with a decent score. The best highlight was towards the end when the mummy shows how insanely strong he is. Yes the stereotype scared black man was annoying but he wasn't in it that much. I found this to be much better than The Mummy's Ghost which I thought was boring.

The Mummy wants a babe. Lon Chaney Jr. shows some of that testosterone wrecking things and people in his way, but there was some real downtime, especially early on. At least the lady gave this some mystique.

The stupidity of the characters is, at times, awe-inspiring
