The Muthers

This is a women pirate movie that is also a prison slave plantation movie. It's fun, and it's best described as a time capsule of a long gone era that was one of the best for cinema.

Better than its exploitation trappings by a little. Better than its budget by a long shot. Nice score, good location shooting, not awful acting from the leads. This appears on all fronts to actually be a movie. I've got four more in a Vinegar Syndrome collection and I imagine that'll be the last time I write that.

Deserving of its cult status. It makes no sense as a pirates venture and barely stands on its own as a women-in-prison picture, but when it combines heavy Stockholm syndrome with a pinch of Uncle Tom in a sexist, exploitation universe, this concoction dared to go places I didn't think it was capable of.

Not much in the way of WIP trappings but heavy blaxploitation influences carry the day in this kitchen sink exploitation film with a cavalcade of jungle bunnies invading the Asian isles.
