Hauntingly thematic from the get-go Very surrealist during the black and white scenes. I definitely found it believable for the medieval folks to experience the 20th century in that manner, though I'm not sure why every car wants to run them over or nobody called in the crazy folk. Plot kind of falls apart toward the end. Fav scene: absolutely frightening traffic crossing when they first encounter cars and having to leave the poor guy behind.

A fun arthouse movie that is sometimes funny but i respect that it takes itself seriously. Overall a good movie with an interesting take. While it is initially hard to understand, the meaning unfolds and it becomes perfectly clear

This is some absolutely spectacular low fantasy. Honestly it's like Tarkovsky directing Highlander.

From the man who would later bring us the shiteful "What dreams may come", comes a so so directorial debut

This was a very original and visually stylish film. I was a bit surprised by the style which was walking the thin line between serious sci-fi/fantasy and comedic; a bit like Terry Gilliam film with different dosage. I respected this more than actually enjoyed it. It could improve a bit with a re-watch and having different expectations. While the links between black death and AIDS/nuclear threat feel a bit distant, watching this during COVID lockdown surely made the film feel relevant again.
