The Night Angel (1931) felt odd in a intriguing way. Slightly grotesque and creepy, with it's stalker-ish romance and a ruthless underground world. Fredric March was a charmless stiffie chasing after Nancy Carroll with barely a lovable trait to her personality. It was a chase you didn't want a happy ending to. Yet all this made it what it was, whatever that was.
