A wealthy English lord is suffering a mental breakdown following the death of his red-headed wife, Evelyn, whom he feared was cheating on him. He tours local bars and dives, scouring for lovely red-heads willing to come back to his decaying castle in the country, where he seduces them, then tortures and kills them. His friend the doctor talks him into marrying again to help heal his slowly-rotting mind, which he does--but are the doctor's orders really what he needs? (imdb)

SPOILER WARNING! Nice giallo with gothic elements. Biggest problem is that the movie completely switches gears midway turning the protagonist from a madman killer into a victim with mental issues.

The movie starts out well but then becomes quite dull with lots of slow motion flashbacks and other pointless scenes. Anthony Steffen is very dull and I found the main female lead little better. The film is too slow and too long and I found myself becoming increasingly impatient waiting for the film to get to the point.

The background shots are as gorgeous as the redheads that bounce in and out of the narrative. A film that offers no redeemable characters but isn't as grating as so many modern horrors.

Really confusing and silly, without the stylistic flare of Miraglia's The Red Queen Kills Seven Times (which also features a character named Evelyn possibly rising from the dead). The ending is kind of baffling because it leaves many of the murders unresolved.

Even though it's not really that scary, and has it's share of plot holes, it's still an ok giallo film. I found it more entertaining than most of Argento's films. Erika Blanc is only in it for a short while, so if you're expecting her to take up some screen time you probably won't find it here. If you like this, check out The Devils Nightmare.
