it could be much better, especially with respect to the end, which takes a bearing extremely unintelligible. Anyway, the technical part is beautiful as a film made by Touneur.

One of gimmick guru Castle's hokier efforts. A few creepy touches -- a cheaply surreal nightmare prologue and a scene that finds Barb scared by a shish kebab -- help relieve the tedium, but the self-styled "Master of Movie Horror" is in far-from-top form here. The pic signs off with "Pleasant Dreams!" in place of the standard "The End."

Barbara Stanwyck's last big screen role. This is great for the genre: B horror movie. Loved the music!

The opening bit about dreams and dreaming is by far the best part. Mostly this is a competent but unmemorable thrilljob

Like a greatly extended Twilight Zone episode, except those are better-written and constructed, and have the virtue of brevity. I can't think of a single movie where dreams are an effective plot device--certainly not this one. Stanwyck should never have been cast as someone even remotely helpless or victimized...it's simply not believable for a moment. I did enjoy the opening narration by Orson Welles...until I found out it was someone named Paul Frees--famous for his Orson Welles imitation!

Quando Descem as Sombras estreava há 55 anos em Los Angeles. Acho que vale mais como curiosidade por ser o último longa da Stanwyck para cinema, porque mesmo dentro da filmografia irregular do Castle ele é mais sério e por isso mesmo menos divertido do que é usual do diretor. BlurayRip RARBG.

With such a fantastic opening, the rest of the movie was bound to be a bit of a let down, but it's a must-see for the Castle-buff. Bizarre logic, improbable twists and great actors hamming it up- You know you love it.
