The Nine Lives of Tomas Katz

Highly experimental movie. Some really nice ideas, but hard to watch at times.

I think this movie has for goal to critic the actual society composed of fat or lazy leadership as blinded slaved-lambs which I find interesting, still I'm much less interested in the '' paranormal '' aspects of the movie. Those who like surreal movie mixed with society characters would enjoy it. There is also original eastetics ideas which mixes ''film noir'', expressionism, even comedy... with my own subjectivity makes it a bit too superficial.

This is the best surreal movie that I have ever seen in life. Period. .This is a brilliant film.Weird,hypnotic,bizarre,avant-garde,funny,absurd stuff. Any surreal film lover should get this. Sadly,this is much neglected just like Hopkin's other film 'Simon Magus'. Maddin,Terry Gilliam,Lynch fans.....don't miss this.You will lose a true gem.Through the irrational juxtaposition of images your unconscious mind will get fucked up.

Sort of like Guy Maddin or Raoul Ruiz reimagined as post-Python, sub-Chris Morris/Charlie Brooker BBC comedy, or something. Passes the time, but it gets a bit tiring after a while, especially the tedious stabs at "experimental" cinema that come off more like a bad '90s music video. Still, i guess it's no worse than something like Pi, but really could only be considered a masterpiece if your idea of a great surrealist is Terry Gilliam.

Extra points for that newscaster/film looping scene. That was dope!
