A real classic. The very end in particular is unforgettable. Viva Audrey!

One of Audrey's best roles. Slow and steady all the way through, it's a compelling tale of a nun's struggle over many years to be true to her job as a nun and her faith.

Not Zinneman's best work, but a really phenomenal character study into commitment. Audrey Hepburn is, of course, fantastic.

Zinnemann fashions a film that is contemplative and moving without ever lapsing into pushy sentiment. He stays out of the way and lets his story carry the weight of the film. He also helps his actors create subtle, wise portrayals. Hepburn's natural charm can't be hidden, but she proves she can subsume it into a character, playing her role forcefully, never resorting to her inherent vivacity to carry a scene.

Ms. Hepburn does a sensational job as Sister Luke, a nun who must make many sacrifices in life in order to do the right thing. It's a story about Sister Luke's life and these sacrifices. If you haven't seen it check it out. It's an underrated classic.

This is a genuinely overlooked gem and deeply honest throughout. The story is simple, believable but always the right side of sentimentality. Hepburn is at her best and least like herself at times. A host of strong character actors make this a powerul ensemble piece. Powerful direction, scoring and cimetography give the film a suitable inner power and strength. Well worth watching.

From this film, I have come to understand that being a nun involves looking upon all the gifts, joys and fulfillment being human, and then deny yourselves them.

Simple and beautiful story - just too slow for me.

Dramatic and starring Hepburn as Sister Luke in what may be her career-defining performance, "The Nun's Story" is a marvelous look at the trying demands and consequences of leading a spiritually-bound life.

Compelling, quietly told story with a very believable performance by Hepburn. The pace sometimes drags but it needs to be unhurried to match the subject matter. My only criticism would be that it's portrayal of the African missions is somewhat patronising

Hepburn turns in a very nuanced and subtle performance, but I can't say I cared much for this film. It's a very long film (2 1/2 hours) and it spends nearly half of that time on the intricacies of being a nun ... everything they are supposed to do and think. I eventually felt like I had accidentally enrolled in the order and a big big mistake had been made.

Detailed, sensitive and thoughtful. Prime Zinnemann, and probably the best Audrey Hepburn.
