Enjoyable war film takes the refreshingly different perspective of a German soldier fleeing a British POW camp to distinguish itself. The storyline becomes a little too episodic for its own good at times, but Kruger's excellent and charismatic performance does much to make up for this and any other shortcomings. Climax on the ice floes is a brilliantly staged bit of drama!
