A complex but enjoyable story, that I think deserves to stick with you long after your viewing is done. Jeff Bridges falls nothing short of mastery of his craft. Amazon is really doing some great things with these films. I have to say, however, that this one falls short of some of their other productions for me, if for no other reason, than that it took a real dip in quality towards the end, before recovering quite admirably with its twist ending. This one is definitely worth checking out.

Low-key drama is reminiscent of IGBY GOES DOWN, and even has a flavor of Woody Allen's Manhattan-set movies, but falls frustratingly short, simply because we've been to this well too many times before -- Turner's smug lead is a little tough to take at times, but Beckinsale is first-rate, and Brosnan has some very touching moments as Turner's flawed but well-meaning father. Bridges' over-the-top fantasy(?) figure never quite works.

The Only Living Boy In New York felt average. Which is more then what I expected. I liked the character development of Turner. I am glad though that Brosnan has a smaller role in the movie, that was a wise decision. 53/100.

This is a movie that hits many of the same notes and soul-chords as "Like Sunday, Like Rain"--character, plot and dialogue driven low budget Indies, both well cast (Yes even Pierce Brosnan), but with no obligatory high octane action scenes, both inexplicably rated R, with low ratings (besides a few like mine),and all leading to a low box office. I especially like Jeff Bridges on screen character and voice over narration. Of all the outstanding scenes, the initial confrontation between Kate Becki

These actors. These great actors. The great writing. The poetic toast, delivered to perfection by Bill Camp. The beautiful score by Rob Simonsen. Miles, Dylan. New York. What more could one want?

Oh boo hoo. Hard for me to relate to the main character. This does the poor misunderstood person of privilege trope well but misses the redeemable aspects of similar films. Jeff Bridges MVP. Fav scene: confronting father

It takes it time picking up the plot bread crumbs, but came to a satisfying conclusion. Characters weren't exactly likeable, but I very much enjoyed the heart-felt ending.

All women are mere piece of meat -- specially Beckinsale's character -- and all men are gorgeously tormented, artistic and obviously "hot". Jesus. Typical adult drama written as good as an Esquire article about masculinity "needs".

The Only Living Boy in New York reminded me of movies by Woody Allen or Billy Wilder so strong Manhattan vibe, so much dialogue and good music BUT one and huge exception. Touching subject but very poor execution, Songs is very good, even say the best feature of the movie. Bob Dylan, Simon&Garfunkel etc. Good performance by Jeff Bridges and Kate Beckinsale. But how about Callum Turner? It's hard to bear it. No harm feelings but impossible to say a very good movie.

Many extra points the the outrageiously gorgeous Kate Beckensale, and stellar cast with Pierce Bronson. Cynthia Nixon, Jeff Bridges and Kiersey Clemons. I was engaged from start to finish with Beckinsale, and the story has lots of dark twists to keep the tension up. Well worth watching, but especially for Kate.

Watch this to the end and there is a good payoff. NYC drama.

Completely empty and boring. The writer doesn't understand any of his characters.

At first it seemed like some Woody Allen-esque grating "romance", then the dive into Greek tragedy made things interesting for a while, then it just became ridiculous.
