The main problem with The Osterman Weekend is that it trys to make something out of nothing, producing a dull, unsatisfying and confusing experience for the viewer, some repetition of scenes and a difficult job for any director who seems more interested in recreating sex scenes than anything else. There's a talented cast, but with a mediocre script to work with they struggle to pull their weight and the movie only picks up as the tension builds towards the explosive climax. Overall, not too bad.

This movie is absolute bonkers in so many ways. The plot makes no sense, the interaction between characters, as well as the choices they make throughout the film are illogical at best, and the trademark "Peckinpah editing" makes for some hilariously stupid and dated sequences. On the other hand are there some clever thriller ideas hidden within this mess, and the cast is great.

What the hell just happened? Free loving exhippies gather together to off someone they suspect of blackmailing them. Extra points for Peckinpaugh's hilarious half-speed fight scene between Rutger Hauer and Craig T. Nelson. Wow, just wow.

Not as good as the book but a taut, suspenseful film. A good cast directed well by Peckinpaugh.

Some nudity and fighting stitched together with a weak story adapted from a good book.

Starts out like a bad spy movie, end up like a poor social commentary(?). But then again, once it gathers the momentum it is fun nonsensical flick with a great cast. Peckinpah's last is not his least for sure (Convoy sort of sucked).

"This is the logical extension of what Howard Hawks did with a lot of his movies." http://illusionpodcast.blogspot.com/2015/10/episode-73-long-fall-of-sam-peckinpah.html
