Very good for a first time effort and was nice to see bits of home on screen (that walk home would be mental though). It's a bit scattered and Karen may have over reached a bit as there are a few too many different issues BUT shows promise for the future

Karen Gillan does a great job as always, the overall subject matter is interesting, and most of the scenes are well made, but overall I would say it lacks a sense of direction for where she wanted the story to go.

I can't say The Party's Just Beginning is enjoyable to watch, but there are some interesting moments throughout. The film deals with suicide, grief & connection; but doesn't ultimately unite them. The film peaks with its high-energy opening. Gillan's repeated bouts of escapist sex, drugs and alcohol, work well against the bleak mundanity of her existence, both depressingly empty. Her eventual burning of bridges yields a few poignant scenes, but the characters are too unlikable to care about.

Jagged, almost hallucinogenic drama; Gillan seems to be aiming for a subjectively disorienting dive through the mind-set of her lead character coming to grips with devastating grief. Doesn't really come together as it should, with Gillan ultimately surrendering to murky (and at times confusing) storytelling, but for an ambitious first effort, it has its moments especially on the performance side of things; Gillan is terrific as the wounded lead, and Pace is also affecting in support.

fazla kuru anlatımı sarf ettiği cümleleri kenara itiyor ve dağınık, ne yaptığını bilmeyen problemli senaryoyu yönetmenlik kurtaramıyor.

Kudos to Karen Gillan for avoiding the typical cliches actors make when starring in their writing and directorial debut. She's good at telling two parallel stories. One is the downward spiral of a woman with sex addiction, alcoholism, and PTSD. The other is a commentary on how memory impacts the grieving process. It's with the latter that she's strongest--via a non-linear editing style that harkens to Nicholas Roeg or Out of Sight. Recommended as she shows strong promise as a filmmaker.
