The Peanut Butter Solution

While normal kids were enjoying The Goonies or E.T., I guess Canadians had to make do with this barmy TV-budget movie about spreading magic sandwich ingredients on your bald head and being kidnapped by a French paedophile. It deserves some credit for creativity, but this is offset by pretty awful acting all-round, from kids and adults alike. Traumatic and mind-bogglingly dumb at the same time - that's apparently the way the Canucks like their kids entertainment.

I was too young to truly remember 1980's Canada, but that aesthetic was still around in the early-90s. This film feels so Canadian in a way that is difficult to describe. It gave me nostalgia watching it. A kid growing extra-long pubes in any other film would be the weirdest thing, but not in this film.

I grew up watching this film and it took me years to find it again. I still do not own my own copy and many people have never seen or heard of it. I believe the fact that it produces such nostalgia when I watch it makes me want to rank it higher but all in all this film is fantastic and a rare one that has magic, ghost, peanut butter, and long long hair.

I last saw this close to 30 years ago, but I recall that I was disturbed and even haunted by it. Perhaps due for another viewing?

Stupid Canadian flick about a kid whose fast growing hair is used to make magic paintbrushes. Retarded, but I must've seen it about a million times on TV growing up.

I can hardly remember because the last time I saw it was as a kid... all I remember is that I LOVED it!

No this isn't a particularly good movie but it is a fun movie and an interesting story. I remember watching this as a kid and it stuck with me. Watched it again with my wife and after her first watch she seem less than impressed and said it was weird. I agreed that it is weird and that it has lots of flaws but I still enjoyed it thoroughly.

I don't know why but this film scared me worse than Something Wicked This Way Comes.
