The Pebble and the Penguin

A dumb, obnoxious, low-effort showing from the once-tolerable Don Bluth. More work went into 10 seconds of the animation than into the entire script.

Boring, forgettable, with terrible songs and not one interesting character. Why do the animators go so far out of their way to give the penguins teeth?

I really liked Barry Manilow's work on Thumbelina. Lightning, unfortunately, did not strike twice. This movie really is an unpleasant experience.

I really enjoyed this, but I watch it rarely. Did not make a deep connection with me. Some good song numbers.

One of the less nonsensical Don Bluth movie: not big-lipped alligator moment, no random unexplained evil magic (beside the furry muscle penguin with his evil skull castle), consistent character designs, the musical numbers had reasons to be... It grows long in the second half however. And why they have teeth. Show this to your kids if you want them to know leopard seals and killer whales are nasty ass nightmare predators to some creatures.

You know it's bad when Tim Curry can't even make the villain worth watching. Two hours after watching this movie and I've barely held onto any of it. Hubie is an incel and a jerk, the musical numbers hold no attention, and the story could've been compressed down to a ten-minute short without losing anything of importance. It's as well-animated as all his other films, but there's a reason why, even after the other nonsense he'd produced, this is the one movie Don Bluth didn't want his name on.

I remember seeing this awhile ago. During an HBO free preview or something like that. And I always wondered if the smart-ass penguin was James Belushi. And it wasn't. And that was probably the most intriguing thing about this movie.

I can hardly remember this film, so don't take my word for it.

I have fond memories of this film, but I also suspect that I wouldn't like it if I saw it today
