Pretty generic kids baseball movie... some uplifting moments, but the main feature is showing the racism of the 50s... but I found it a somewhat racist presentation... the Mexicans speak with bad fake Mexican accents in English. They steal. There's the little one who is really fast. I don't know how much of this story is true exactly, but this movie seems to be written and directed by white people of the 50s.

There are some interesting directorial choices, mostly in terms of visuals, but sometimes they seem superfluous and awkwardly integrated. It also goes through so many of the motions of this kind of film, and cheesily so, that it takes the fun out of it.

This is one of the worst pieces of crap I have ever seen. Worse than made for TV movies on the Disney Channel. Awful stuff, I feel bad for the kids in it.
