Intense! Manages to marry strong, personal, sympathetic characterization with rousing anger, making you understand how the mechanisms of oppression function while stoking a certainty that they must be dismantled. (Speaking of which, thank goodness that the people in this movie actually look like they're from Northern Africa and/or the Middle East!) The songs are strong, even if several show their '90s pop lineage. The acting is generally good, and the animation is wonderful. Overall, it's great.

A surprisingly respectful and faithful adaption of the story of Moses. The animation is beautiful and it mostly feels like it was willing to take risks that Disney wouldn't touch at the time. Then again, my biggest complaint is that it falls into a lot of common animated films tropes (especially with DreamWorks). Moses is just a lovable goofball (until he finds religion), the occasionally smug sense of humor, and of course, the cast of A-list actors lending their voices.

Still DreamWorks' best. It's got a great script that humanizes the characters far beyond what the biblical narrative has to offer, and some killer songs by Stephen Schwartz (and a great score by Hans Zimmer) that adds a lot of depth and absolutely validates the decision to make the story of Moses into a musical. It's also quite beautiful, and it's a shame DreamWorks went permanently away from this style of animation shortly thereafter.

A truly fantastic biblical film that covered the story of Moses, complete with a few really great songs that shine and make the story grow through a lot more depth than it could have. The relationship between Moses and Ramses was really well done too.

Meh, it's not terrible or anything but nothing particularly engaging. The artwork's pretty good, I guess, but the voices are kind of off, as is the pacing, and the story just isn't fleshed out enough to be interesting.

The first of DreamWorks's traditionally animated features is marvelously animated, wonderfully scored, and the most accurate adaptation of the Exodus story; even in the midst of Disney's Renaissance, "The Prince of Egypt" is one of the time's best animated pictures.

Best part was Ofra Haza singing her song in multiple dubs in different languages. I try to watch outside of religious viewing, and ended up being still not sure of what to think. I guess it could had had more adventurous, graphical, and insightfully human approach (it's not historically accurate anyway), but there were scenes that looked and sounded nice as they are. Rewatch may rise the rating, likely I won't downgrade it, but right now this is how I remember this film.

Great songs and a pretty faithful adaptation of the Exodus story, but the character drawings are strangely disenchanting, and the story is far from character driven. Still, it beats that usual crap with the protagonist having cute animal side-kicks and for educational purposes, you could do a lot worse than Prince of Egypt.

A beautifully animated film giving a somewhat new take on the Biblical story of Exodus. In particular, this movie focuses on the relationship between Ramses and Moses not merely as adversaries, but also as brothers. While they represent opposing sides, neither truly wants to fight the other, and this sets up much of the personal conflict of the film. However, some of the songs were unnecessary or just plain bad, the oily comedy-relief priests are annoying, and some of the voice-acting is off.

Uh, I don't remember much of this. Reading the cast list makes me cringe, thinking of how many professional voice actors could've done better jobs. Well, like I said I don't really remember; maybe they did okay. I do remember the animation being good, and the stories are of course classics, so I'm assuming this is at the very least mediocre. Don't really remember, though.

It shows promise, with a good mix of darkness and humour (although this is more appropriate for adults than kids) and the scenery can look impressive (though the mix of CG is terrible). Then again, this is a Dreamworks Animation Film, and a very mediocre early one. The songs range from alright to downright hokey and cheesy, reiterating the "gotta love thy neighbour" theme as if its directed towards incarcerated serial killers (even though there's traces of hypocrisy in this Biblical tale).

I'm amazed how forgotten this movie is, because it's really underrated. Even a dedicated agnostic like myself can't help but enjoy a great animated throwback to those old-school Hollywood biblical epics like Ben-Hur, and Prince of Egypt is an impressive achievement before Dreamworks decided to spend the rest of their existence remaking Schrek a thousand times.

14 chapters of Exodus are expanded into this brilliant combination of cel animation and CGI artistry, powered by a compelling throughline of loss, reinvention, and redemption. Featuring masterful music by Hans Zimmer and Steven Schwartz (with chorals from the late Ofra Haza), this feature is both inspirational and subversive-progressing deliberately to an awe-inspiring conclusion. It deserves to be a classic.

What it does right, it does well, but not enough. Great parts of the story just seemed glossed over where it really could have given this movie some more to work with (they reduce the punishments through a quick montage?). The songs aren't very strong either. But it has its heart in the right place, and most definitely has some of the greatest hand drawn animation I've seen.

I'm always going to love The Price of Egypt. It's one of the best religious films. It takes a lot of liberties with the biblical story but I enjoy the brothers' relationship. Upon rewatch as an adult a lot of the characters' decisions don't make sense, the plot's choppy with scenes seemingly put in order, and there are plot holes galore. The song When You Believe is wonderful. The CGI still looks good in 2020. Fav scene: chariot chase with the Sphinx's nose falling off.

Gorgeously animated film that tells the story of Exodus. Songs are weak, though and it's faithful adaptation to the source text makes it hard to have any original hook. One of those movies you know objectively is a decent and straightforward adaptation of an old famous story, but for some reason you can't really get into it. Yes, the film has gorgeous Animation and the music by Hans Zimmer fits well with the story, but it all just basic to me. I appreciate the film trying to add Musical numbers. There's a bit of humour here and there, and the film feels perfectly paced. In the end, it simply boils down to not really being my cup of tea more than anything.

The Prince of Egypt is a great start to the Dreamworks catalog. It is a little hard to watch this movie as an atheist in the year 2023. If you can get past the preachy moments, then you can find some superb 90's animation. The voice acting is outstanding. The music is great as well. The orchestra songs fit well. The pop songs are toe-tappers and they are able to lace Jewish prayers or songs into some of these songs which gives an authenticity to the film. It's definitely worth a viewing.
