I really loved a lot of things about the concept of this film, it's a great idea that could really have been something great but the execution of it is very disappointing.

This one's not very good, but it was enjoyable in a sort of craptastic, riffable way. It's got the goofy premise with the Egyptian myth and cynocephalic monster. It's got incredibly unlikable, annoying characters that you're rooting for to die. It's got a total miscasting with Ashley Hinshaw (admittedly not her fault) as an archaeologist Ph.D. so they can have a young blonde as the protagonist and fit horror movie narratology. It has lines like, "They ended up imprisoning their own god!"

Showed promise in its opening reel, but falls apart as the cast stumble through bland styrofoam hallways, and run from cats and a garbage CGI anubis. Breaks its own found footage barriers. Ashley Hinshaw overacts her role and turns her competent archaeologist into a screaming, huffing, pouting brat who is a pain to watch become the final girl. A cute concept that I really wanted to work, but needed better writers. Levasseur has a record of excellent horror scripts and should have written it too.

At least they were aware they had to escape, as we were told innumerable times throughout

I hate found footage, but I go nuts for supernatural horror. Expect your run of the mill acting and script, which is to say, not particularly good. But you're not here for a Paddy Chayefsky quality script, and Laurence Olivier quality acting, are you? You want to see people getting the crap killed out of them by Anubis, right? Well, we've got you covered.

Incapable of deciding whether or not to be a found footage film or a more traditionally shot thrillfest, "The Pyramid" instead chooses to be both, providing some of the most incompetently written characters, the worst direction, and the most absolutely appalling visual effects I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing in the process.

People being trapped in a dark Pyramid with dangerous traps and creatures could be cool, but sadly the film is mostly boring and kind of annoying to watch. A lot of stupidity and the film switching between being shot traditionally and Found Footage. The scenes with Anubis are the highlight, but it’s a very small part of the movie. To give some credit, the sets and props look pretty great, although the CGI can be unconvincing half the time. This felt like “As Above, So Below” done worse.
