The Rain

Sorry guys, It doesn't work. The story itself is easy, but the characters are terribles. I am referring to the characters, not the actors. I can't feel empathy for anyone. Why in 2018 writers still think that making characters that hold secrets is good for a script? TALK, let them TALK for GOD'S SAKE! I give it a 65 because there is ONE really good scene. In an early episode they show the perspective of an adolescent who is looking an instagram story while the rain is falling. THAT is damn good.

It has its good parts and not so good parts. Still has some value to see the Danish take on the apocalypse.

It seems well made, but even in the first episode I felt cheese and melodrama setting in.

S1: 70 | S2: 55 | S3: 40 | The first episode is a rough one. It picks up after, but the reveal late in the first season really hurts the show. Would’ve been better as a movie or limited series, and if the reveal never happened. The finale is also somewhat mediocre.

The first season was terrific! The second season was very much not. I split the difference.

I'm a sucker for anything post-apocalyptic and also bleak Scandinavian drama, so this should have been extremely my thing. But the story has been done better many times before and anyone familiar with the genre can see the major plot developments coming a kilometre off. Still, it's good Netflix background viewing thanks to the nice cinematography and fantastic soundtrack. I'd definitely watch a second season.

The show is very well filmed. The cinematography is top notch. The acting isn't bad. The writing, however, is what's so disappointing about this show. It's just nowhere nearly as captivating as the visuals. I wouldn't say it's predictable, just very dull and kind of ridiculous. It's watchable, but not worth watching. You've seen this already, probably.
