The Real Cancun

"The world's first reality movie" reads the tag line. Hopefully the last.

I would rather eat out my own asshole for 90 minutes than watch these shallow people go about their loathesome lives again. A genuinely, skin-crawlingly unpleasant experience.

Required reading for a proper understanding of American culture.

Do you know why they have near constant voice overs on the Real World? It's so the melodramatic participants can paint worlds of drama and tension into completely banal scenes. The Real Cancun was nothing more than three sub-par episodes of the Real World, without the arched commentary. Watching a webcam stationed in the corner of a bar in Baltimore would be more entertaining, and more enlightening.

Couldn't make it past 5 minutes. Pointless.

A shudder of a premise yields surprisingly thoughtful (and endearing) results, though this may well be picking up nostalgia points as a time capsule of a very specific brand of pretentiously soapy early reality TV, as well as the devil-may-care attitude of post 9/11 / tech boom youth culture (ahh those needle drops take me back!) The cast of kids are likable enough, with their behaviour fitting within the boundaries of good-natured escapism rather than anything obnoxious. A modest success.

Sure it's got some hot girls, but if I wanted that I would rent some porn. Horrible. F.

yeah i watched it

A really bad movie, but i have guiltily watched it more than once. A lot of the characters were very unlikable though and it's kind of sad to see the American college population in full swing.

Who cares? Living it was more interesting than watching it. Although the all-expenses paid hotel would have been nice back in my teens... oh well.

Just another MTV-ish docu-soap, but entertaining nonetheless.

You'd do better watching Girls Gone Wild.

Some funny moments but very contrived. Pretty much comes off as a bad Jersey Shore episode.

An absolutely terrible forgery of a real film. This film couldn't even fake an interesting documentary.

Watchable, but pointless in every way. This did not need to go to theaters....or even DVD.
