Has a decent enough idea behind it but ugh

This film drags on with an uninteresting story. Hilary Swank does a good job here but the material is severely lacking. The ending also does not work. Overall this film is disappointing.

might have been better if it spent 2h and not 1.5h on the 10 plagues, then the special effects would have helped it a lot, but all-in-all it wasnt that bad

The Reaping is not enjoyable, except for the scenes where it's either too trashy or terrible to take seriously. It has bland performances, poor special effects (especially for its $40 million budget), a lack of scares or jolts, and a nonsensical plot. This isn't a good film any way you slice it. There isn't a reason I can think of to watch The Reaping. If you can come up with one, you very well might spawn Satan yourself, trying to convert people into a cult dedicated to watching this movie.

... the stupidity of some scenes really make this movie ridiculous. (I mean ten plagues, ok. And then there's Damien-girl (doink) but in fact she isn't, so we squeeze in a little Rosemary's Baby in the last minute?!) And some of the CGI was really bad.

You can never fully approve of a movie where someone attempts to subdue a plague of locusts with a shotgun, but it also makes it tough to truly dislike it – an extremely silly, trashy attempt at horror, mixing elements of all 3 EXORCIST movies, and testing the mettle of Swank and Elba, gamely attempting (and largely succeeding) to play this material straight. If you can buy into it, it’s fun to watch as it teeters, but doesn’t quite fall, over the edge; serviceable enough and a bit of fun.

It may feature such accomplished actors as Hilary Swank and Stephen Rea, but The Reaping also boasts the apropos tagline "What hath God wrought?" It's schlocky, spiritually shallow, and scare-free.

Decent demonstration of the plagues, but was pretty boring otherwise.

It wasn't so bad, I kinda liked it. Sue me!

A huge load of, dare I say, pretentious garbage. It's filled with bad "dream scares" that are the norm for filler scares in bad horror movies. The plot-hole filled plot is retarded. Did the script writers even read the bible? I'm not religious at all but this movie is filled with out of context pick-and-choose biblical garbage. It's all rounded off with two shitty twists. The first being "oh gee everyone else is bad". The second being "oh ho one dream was really real!" Fuck this movie.

Top badass moment? Realising I find Christian-based horror disproportionally scary because I went to a C of E primary school. This film offers nothing we haven’t seen before, but I enjoyed it. Idris was a bit disappointing; here's a guy who’s operated a Jaeger and been a superhero too, yet all he can manage this time is to mess about with some test-tubes and get pushed down a few steps and die. He doesn't even get off with Hilary. Lame. 1 decapitation (some sort of cow), no cats or chainsaws.

This film must be very environmentally friendly, because it's recycled garbage. That said, the effects are pretty cool.

NO WAY! God I just don't know what they were thinking. Seriously, I mean, it was just that bad.

A very numb and trivial emptyness for very trivial and numb audience.

Basically your standard supernatural thriller, kind of thrilling, really predictable, not much when all is said and done.

I was still on an Idris Elba kick from watching too much "The Wire," and sadly he was criminally under used.

Turns out to be a stylish, suspenseful and solid film about a woman who has dedicated her life to debunking phenomenons which appear to be religious miracles. You know what this means... Old skool, 70's style horror.

Its NOT as crappy as the critic its been rewarded with, I was expecting "saw 3 bad" but I could acctually sit through this without gutting myself with a teaspoon.
