I thought this was pretty good. The polar opposite of Zero Dark Thirty, where this focuses more on the methods and morals of our agencies rather than the actual manhunt for bin Laden. Driver is solid and makes this hero easy to get behind, and Benning is pretty good too. You can tell Burns was passionate about this story and wanted it to get out. It's told as it is and with some good directing and editing too. You definitely have to be interested in the story to enjoy it. I liked it a lot.

It's pretty good, but just imagine for a second if Aaron Sorkin wrote this... whoa-baby best screenplay nomination guaranteed, this story has him written all over it. Based on very little I'm going to declare this is the exact level of quality that Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs movie would have been without Sorkin's writing. Huh? What are you talking about? That is totally clear assessment and totally not ultimately meaningless jabbering about an alternate universe

Well crafted dissection of U.S. "interrogation" techniques brings to mind ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN in its dialogue-heavy execution - however, this still engrosses, thanks to Burns' RASHOMON-like telling of the story, punctuated by some unrelieving (but necessarily) brutal, viscerally enraging scenes of torture. It's the evident passion behind this project (along with rock solid work from Driver and Bening) that elevates this to something sadly and powerfully memorable.

All meat and no fat, there's no distractions here as we get as involved in the investigation, debates, arguments, and mounds of paper-work as Daniel Johns does. Emotionally tempered and doesn't cheapen any of the nastier characters, this is quite the dedicated ode to the revealing and shocking titular report.

The Report is about the creation and publication of the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation of the CIA's use of torture. The film is two hours long. The actual document is 6700 pages. It's one of the few pieces of writing where you are unarguably better off watching the movie adaptation. The movie displays the facts of the investigation so thoroughly it has little time for any panache.

This is an example of a good story told well with good acting. Driver is in peak form, and Bening is surprisingly good as Senator Dianne Feinstein (even if she looks more like Elizabeth Warren). The best way to sum this up is substance over style. I guess when you get the basics right you don't need to rely on a lot of panache to carry the film.

Its good. Just further illustrates why US government agencies shouldn't really be trusted.

Interesting subject matter which should be known. It's a bit messy and gets kinda exhausting at times, but it does get juicy sometimes as well. Adam Driver was great (so, no surprises there).

The movie is fine but I'm not a fan of the nonstop torture/war crime scenes.

Since rather unfamiliar with the matter and terminology I found it a bit confusing and almost hard to follow in every detail. It's a movie about a report so it's expected to be a bit dry, and it is. Disgusting apparatus of USA reign of terror is revealed in plain sight, camouflaged in bureaucracy and endless departments and agencies with little to no responsibility for people responsible. Driver delivers he role perfectly. General education material but don't expect much excitement.

Sometimes, because of the way it's shot, it feels a bit like a thriller... which isn't a bad thing. Driver was great in this and I was surprisingly fond of the soundtrack. I wasn't always interested in what was going on as going through papers can get a little tedious, but as a whole I enjoyed it and feel that it's important movie. It seems to stick to the facts and that's refreshing.

There were a few new things I learned from this movie, and Adam Driver gave a great performance. I think it's important to see, but I don't otherwise think I'll watch this again.

Great cast and an interesting true story that isn’t as engaging as it should be, perhaps because of the directing. It’s a good film that’s worth seeing, although the ending was lacking a bit. All that time and hardly any payoff, just a bit of text to close the film.

succeeds at what it's trying to do, at least: convince you that everything's ok now. it isn't and this isn't

It's fine, but not especially gripping, intriguing, or interesting. The subject matter is important, but after this was over, I was questioned why it had to be a film. 05/JUN/2023

Very solid. At least one minute error: family sculpting can be much more than clay figures. An error normally means I question the article or film, but this feels authentic and generally regarded as so. Great acting from all, impressive cast. Worth watching

I'm totally fine with its anti-ZDK approach, but what really bothers me is how this tries pretty hard to look like a Fincher film and ends up being a bad Soderbergh one. At least Driver does what he can to lift the material.

Staying this close to the truth, while telling to story of actually very boring paperwork, in such an intriguing way is very difficult, and very well achieved here. A well written, well acted, well shot and well edited film that comes together nicely.

The importance of its subject matter being its sole justification for existing, Burns and co. craft an uninspired and insipid information dump masquerading as a film. The script, acting, etc. is serviceable, nothing more.
