Love the Doctor's Council: HERE HERE *Rabble rabble* pish posh. The movie is over before you know it, the pacing is ... ... monstrous. heh

The 1st half hour is extremely well-written. The screenwriter plausibly explains why the doc's still alive, how he re-establishes himself, & how he plans to fix his previous mistakes - all in record time. There's also some great dialogue as Cushing verbally spars with a man who's discovered him & a self-serving doctoral board you want to see him get the better of. The problem is the film wants the doctor to be the hero & so, even though it's unpredictable, there's no satisfying creature horror

The middle third, when the focus is on the monster, is the highlight. This film has an empathy for the character that was completely lacking in "Curse" and Michael Gwynn does an amazing job of conveying the psychological torment he is in. The rest is rather dry and uneventful, although I did like Cushing's funky steampunk lab.

Better than the first I'd say. Cushing's Frankenstein is as good as in the first film and by detaching the plot completely from the source material this film doesn't wander in no-man's land as much. It executes the psychological horror very well and has an interesting, if underdeveloped, take on the monster.

Nice colourful sets, a little off in logic and generel loose in plot, but an okay ending.

Peter Cushing at his best, Terence Fisher at his best and Hammer at it's best. Throw in cannibalism and you can't miss.

Slow-paced and full of suspense but the downside is that not much happens.

other hammer movies are better, but anybody with a taste to seek out hammer films in the first place shouldn't miss out on this one.

Plenty of hammer camp, not enough creepy for me in this one.

Now this is more like it. Well-paced, good performances, and wonderful black humor

A Vingança de Frankenstein estreava há 65 anos em Londres. Não sei, não gosto muito dessas sequências que vão além do livro da Mary Shelley (não tenho o mesmo problema com os Draculas), sem falar que nem tem Christopher Lee. Box Versátil Frankenstein no Cinema.

Sequel to hugely successful Hammer studios reboot (gotta love this word) of Frankenstein films. Although it was made only a year after The Curse of Frankenstein and it had mostly the same people working on it, the drop in quality is huge. First noticeable thing is how much better everything looked in Eastmancolor! The story is duller, Cushing has less occasions to be awesome too. Hammer studios seems to be repeating mistakes done by Universal 25 years earlier.

While not as good as the first film in this series Peter Cushing gives another fine performance as Dr. Frankenstein.
