Like the other Lorentz film I've seen this has some interesting historical information buried under very drab narration. It's ok if you can make it through that.

Pare Lorentz makes a documentary pretty much the same as his "The Plow That Broke the Plains (1936)" with great imagery, but without much more. It's a serious looks at life along the Mississippi and all it's designed to do it teach us about the history and hard life there. Like a school educational video.
