This was fun. It picks up some of the strands of the first film, cranks them up, and lets rip. It also adds Vernon Wells, who should be in everything, and Bruce Spence, who has a great face. There is a fairly unique tone and style at play; amidst the brutality there is a seam of dark comedy, and the makers clearly get very excited by bizarre costuming and road chases. The action itself is handled well, and where the pacing of the first film was a bit unsteady, this flies past. Worth seeing.

Leagues above the original. The stuntwork is dazzling, the pacing is tight, and the story avoids the sentimentality and the overtread vigilante worship of the original. It's gritty, it's tense, it's imaginative, and one hell of a ride. The only possible complaint is that the post-apocalyptic, S & M donning enemies are quite silly - but honestly that's part of the film's charm, as Lord Humungus makes for one of the most hilarious, bizarre, threatening, and amazing villains ever.

Yes, yes, yes. This is everything I wanted the original to be, given its lofty reputation among genre geeks. Miller takes every idea that worked in the first film (low-angled car chases, colorful villains, an atmosphere of gory fun) and cranks the volume up to the mythical 11. In this one, the battle lines are clearly drawn between bad guys and good (VERY '80s pro wrestling) from the start, which tightens the film up considerably. No melodrama or wasted time here. Just great, balls-out action.

The Road Warrior is the pinnacle of George Miller's Mad Max trilogy and it's a superior sequel in almost every way. Mel Gibson has grown into his character and he gives one of his most iconic performances. The original was a slow burning revenge flick, but this sequel is insanely action packed from start to finish. The unbelievable set pieces and stunts have remarkably stood the test of time and mastermind George Miller creates some of the finest action ever put on screen.

Bizarre post apocalyptic imagery of Australia, strange characters, and a Mel Gibson before he fell off the loony wagon. It's a classic in every way and has one of the best extended car chase sequences known to man. This is a must see if you are interested in post-apocalypse type films. If you aren't..at least stay for the chaos.

I need to watch more movies with Vernon Wells in them, the guy is seriously a badass and both movies I've seen with him his character is so iconic and hilarious and genuinely creepy. So much better than the original, they didn't have to waste time establishing characters and just went right into the action. It's also incredibly silly yet so entertaining.

The Road Warrior is pretty much everything an apocalypse movie needs to be! Fantastic yet fitting set pieces and vehicular action, and it's fun to see Mel Gibson return as the title character. Somewhat detailed, entertaing, and easily improves upon the first movie! My only complaint is that it's too short. Worth the easy, tension-grasping watch.

Proof that a story needn't break any new ground to be great, but it should always feel true & fresh. The true part comes in the script & actors (the action sequences are never forced, but inescapable outgrowths of the tribal conflict; Max's detachment is never in doubt & the dressing down he gets from the refinery leader cuts to a primal human need for connection) & the fresh in a vision of an apocalyptic future so strikingly original & unique it became the template for ongoing imitators.

Another better than the original sequel. Almost everything here is improved from the sequel. The story is tighter, characters more interesting, and acting more intense. Yet saying that, the acting actually decreased. Only Gibson and Spence were acceptable in their roles. Saying that however, this is a movie where it was not detrimental.

It's notibly better than the first. The higher production values really paid off as the action scenes are better, but I'll be honest I eventually got tired of seeing someone injured crawling from wreckage. Also the savage kid with the terrible hair was really, really annoying. Some good cinematography of the Australian landscape mixed throughout the film. If you enjoy action and/or cars then this'll be a flick to see.

It suffers from the same things that most decent action flicks did in the 80s (corny characters, bad acting). But the strong points are very strong. The landscape is barren, the people are desperate, and the bad guys are VERY bad. In the middle is a classic anti hero played by Mel Gibson. One of the finest action flicks around.

The Road Warrior comes across like a Western that's been dressed up in a post-apocalyptic setting with over-the-top action. It's possibly the most enjoyable Western ever made, at least for action junkies. It further depicts the world that the filmmakers began to establish in Mad Max. We've gone full post-apocalypse this time around. Mel Gibson is even better in the lead, coming across as more confident and assured, and we continue to get a strong supporting cast filled with memorable characters.

It's better than the first one, but still not a good film. The beginning is actually quite promising. After that the movie quickly goes back to the over long car chase scenes that are familiar from the first film. In the end I was rather disappointed.

There's some kind of gay struggle lurking underneath the conflict between a leathered Mad Max and Lord Humungus (who is backed by a gang of gayboy berserkers in assless chaps), but it's never quite clear what that struggle is or how it should be explained. What is clear, however, is that the solution is a lot of engine revving and physical confrontation.

On the surface the setting is interesting and the film moves quickly enough to be enjoyable, but there's not much more to it than big explosions and a post-apocalyptic setting. Under any kind of scrutiny the film's logic falls apart and it's not especially entertaining.

One hell of a great film that combines a classic hero story with an expanded version of the post-apocalyptic Outback wasteland George Miller only showed the beginning stages of in Mad Max. There's action, adventure, and car crashes galore, and the look of the film has become the standard in post-apocalyptic aesthetics. A brilliant film that damn-near created its own genre and inspired dozens of imitators.

Felt a little short, but definitely better overall than the original Mad Max. I would like to have seen more of this post-apocalyptic world, and how people live, but I guess the movie gives you just enough to set the stage for the main conflict. And that main conflict takes up most of the movie. It's still paced well, and some of the chase scenes near the end are just awesome.

The best of the original Mad Max trilogy. This is the film that cemented the post-apocalyptic setting we all have come to know and love and that influenced who knows how much of pop culture and other media. Max barely says anything through the entire film but that's okay: just sit back and be blown away by awesome action setpieces, wild costumes, and the arid landscapes.

Feels like a movie without a great budget. Mad max 2 delivers a enjoyable film when the suspenseful scenes start. The movie started a bit slow. The bad guys were interesting, but after a certain moment become standard cheesy bad guys. The other characters were done quite well, and were quite enjoyable. However, certain scenes felt really non-suspenseful, because they didn't age that well. I really loved the post-apocalyptic scenery; which was one of the main attractions. Improvement over 1.

A tense, entertaining action movie against a fairly well-developed backdrop. The mood is certainly different in this sequel from the original: It's a real wasteland dystopia, not just a slightly embellished outback. Also, Mad Max was a revenge film, so the setup had Mel Gibson's Max express feelings. This one is essentially a futuristic western, and the same protagonist is cast as a cold-blooded, blank-faced lone wolf.

Miller's incredibly homoerotic action series continues, but trades out its timely revenge plot for a better, high octane conflict. This go-round, Max begrudgingly teams up with "defenders" and fights against some raiders who are decked out in BDSM leatherware and often incredibly buff. The testosterone in the whole experience is tangible, and I really enjoyed trying to figure out who this movie was catering to. It's the queerest action film I've seen, and a brilliantly executed one at that.

A good portion of the acting and dialogue is less than desirable, but what's exciting is the main event that is the chase sequences that are explosive and gleefully destructive, with plenty of rogue scrap metal and car-stunts gone wrong. The emotional stakes might be comparatively lower but the sequel to 1979's "Mad Max" is an arguably tighter affair. The stuntwork is fascinating once more and the script more focused, if still rather simplistic. The amazingly small amount of dialogue of any emotional gravitas highlights even more those moments of human insight in amongst the terrifying post-apocalyptic landscape. Miller's gone even crazier than before with the costumes, vehicles etc. in an insanely vivid yet flawed action flick.
