Solid performances from Sheehan (who's always such a delight) and Patel. I didn't like the MPDG feel of Kravitz's role (she always seems to be stuck with those), but she was good as well. But apart from these excellent performances, the story kind of rambled on...

Good performances from the leads, but more or less just a bog-standard road trip movie, just with the characters all having mental illnesses. Thankfully the trip doesn't magically cure them.

Not a great--or even particularly good--movie, and a significant part of that score is for the number of times you hear "cunt" in this (there are more cunts per square inch here than any movie I can think of). Sheehan is excellent (and I'm sorry, I will always find Tourette's outbursts funny) and getting to see Dev Patel as a raving, over-the-top OCD clean freak is worth the watch.

The Road Within is an average film with a few good performances. The plot is a run-of-the-mill road trip drama with a reasonable portrayal of mental anguish, though it is ultimately aimless. Kravitz and Sheehan both due well in their roles, providing plenty of annoyance for Patel's character. Patel, while strictly speak is not the primary protagonist, delivers the best performance in the film, allowing for the better emotional scenes as well as the comedic ones. Still, it's a mediocre film.

Nice to see a movie about people suffering from mental illnesses that's not just another overly manipulative melodrama. Dev Patel (OCD) and Zoe Kravitz (anorexia) were both pretty great, but the one who truly shines here is Robert Sheehan. Playing someone with Tourettes must be an incredibly tough job but he kills it.
