A giant hunk of cult classic shit. And yes, I've seen the "real" thing - I went to a balls-to-the-wall big screen showing of it in New York City, people quoting lines, costumed actors, throwing shit and I don't know what the fuck. Then I went home and shot myself.

I dunno. I just don't know. This was something else. It's so different, and so campy, that I would categorize it as a "love it/hate it-movie", except I definitely didn't love it and I found it too likeable to hate. Points to Curry for going all in (that guy is creepy - I will forever see him as Pennywise). I watched it with a crowd and they were very into it. It's a curious experience; not one, however, I'm likely to repeat.

Sure it's cheesy, bizzare, retarded and campy...but, it's supposed to be like that. One of the few musicals I actually enjoyed with catchy songs and it's just plain dirty fun from start to finish. Trust me, you might be suprised of what you think about it. Just a very hard film to rank.

The world can be split into two groups based on this film. There are the squares, like myself, who simply don't find it anything special, but rather weird and even quite annoying because of the other group of people who are way too into it. To each his own, I suppose, but this movie is not the most approachable of pieces out there by any means. Crap!

I found it simply far too campy. I'd just like to point out that I'm not a fan of campy films. However there are quite a few scenes in the film that are very well done, not to mention the time warp is damn catchy. I was never bored during the film but I'd be lying if I said I really wanted to see it again. I'm glad I've seen it once but that's enough for me.

I was unfortunate enough to see this for the first time in a theater packed with godawful "fans" who sneered at you for not participating in their fandom. The movie is actually somewhat fun in the privacy of your own home, but its moronic fanbase has ruined it for eternity.

This isn't camp, it's crap. While I am not completely immune to the obvious appeal of Tim Curry in drag, this film is pretty much unwatchable dreck with horrible music blaring throughout.

A satire of conservative values and an endearing homage to old horror and science fiction, in which the monster is the depraved sexuality of a new generation. The songs are catchy, the choreography is silly and exaggerated, and the entire thing is just hilariously clever.

I had a lot of fun with it! Musicals always feel so drawn out and long enough that I never actively seek them out, and while this felt a little drawn out toward the last act, I thought it was generally really well paced and just heaps of fun! The cast and crew gave it their a-game. Amazing production and costume designs, catchy tunes, some really good laughs and comedic timing, and a cast that’s irresistibly likable and sexy. Very campy, very horny, very funny. How can I get a hold of Magenta?

It's probably not fair to rate this, because it's not a movie so much as an experience. Taken alone, outside its cult following, it is a sexy, naughty spoof on musicals, alien and monster films, but there really isn't much else to it. If you're not in a sticky floor theater yelling at the screen, it's not really worth watching more than once.

Between the 30s and the 60s, horror and science fiction B-movies had a somewhat close relationship. They began to grow apart in the 70s, but shortly before they decided to separate, glam rock came along and proposed an orgy to spice things up. And that's how The Rocky Horror Picture Show was born. Pleasure derived from its viewing will depend largely on your opinion of glam rock's androgyny and B-movie camp.

This movie made me really angry. Something like six of the songs are fantastic, and Curry rules, but otherwise it just sucks so hard. There doesn't appear to be any thematic depth or point besides 'ha ha! corsets and stockings! LAUGH, DAMMIT!', and it's trying really ridiculously hard to be audacious and controversial. Add that to the obnoxious-as-balls fanbase - I don't CARE if it's meant to be bad, that doesn't make it good - and you have an angry Bown.

Good fun but I'm not keen on all of the songs and the plot kinda falls apart, turning quickly into a series of sketches. Pastiche is great but perhaps with a stronger unifying message I'd enjoy it more. The songs are indeed great though, probably the only time Meatloaf hasn't sounded ridiculously stupid singing the sort of tunes he's known for. Tim Curry is boss too.

Though it's corny, bizarre & completely nonsensical, Rocky Horror is an incredibly entertaining musical. It's like nothing you've ever seen before (or likely will see ever again). Susan Sarandon is great. Tim Curry gives an incredible comedic performance as Dr. Frank N. Furter. Totally twisted fun.

I specially liked the first half hour or 45 minutes, when there are more and better songs. Then the movie goes a bit down in my opinion, the musical side is not that good and the story that never was that good (though at first at least it included some mistery) isn't strong enough to support the movie.

I don't get musicals and I don't get androgyny. "Walk on the Wild Side" was never my cup of tea. So this movie really kind of mystifies me--I just don't get it. And when you don't get that out of this movie, all else is exposed--you see all the camp and the low budget and the horrid acting exposed for what it is. So I have no choice but to give this a horrid rating. It's horrid. Also it needs to be pointed out that Tim Curry is not remotely as good an actor as he thinks he is.

One of those films. Yeah, with the cult following and what-not... Let me just say that the first half was pretty good, I enjoyed the songs (especially "Time Warp") and Tim Curry was definitely entertaining. But then the shenanigans ended up going on too long, the musical numbers gradually got worse and I lost interest.

I see no reason to rate or review this a film. Therefore: default rating of 50. Somehow I got the feeling that had this been a better film, it would have been less of a phenomenon, but somehow I guess that's not really the point, is it? The point is Tim Curry in drag, right? Right? Anywho: always nice to have an excuse to throw stuff.

It is what it is, and nothing else is even remotely similar. You'll probably love it or hate it. If you're homophobic, run the other way. If, on the other hand, you like camp and are willing to be entertained by some truly zany musical numbers, this should be #1 on your list.

I think most people fall into one of two categories regarding Rocky Horror: 1.those who don't get it and 2.those who are just looking for an excuse to wear fishnet stockings in public. And while the story is about as deep and insightful as a TV Guide listing, the songs (especially the lyrics) are brilliant.

I feel bad for not rating this a little higher. There are some classic cinematic moments, Susan Sarandon is the hottest female of all time in this film, and the music is fantastic, despite its cheesiness. Tim Curry is really good, the visuals are memorable, and the queer retelling of Frankenstein's story that forms the core of the film is promising. Nevertheless, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" barely has a plot and emerges as an overstretched collage of mostly average music and pointless musical numbers. It doesn't bother with making sense or crafting characters with depth, and, despite its welcome attempts at celebrating sexuality, fails to offer a concise message or any emotional resonance.

Fun first half and then it’s a pretty decent slog to get through: not sure if it’s boring or by that point it’s lost it’s lustre and I start getting a bit sick and annoyed at the whole thing. Still a movie for theatre dorks who should probably watch some more challenging camp stuff.
