So, a stone with runes carved into it (if only there were a name for such things) is found in a New England coal mine, and delivered to a New York penthouse where it makes a wolf of Wall Street actually turn into an actual wolf. Actually. But not just any wolf--Fenrir, wolf of the old gods and motorcycle of Cloud Strife from FFVII. As is the case with most movies from the 80s and early 90s, this should be watched after ingesting copious amounts of mead from a silver-banded horn.

Peter Riegert is fantastic as the foul mouth pez popping detective forced to try and protect a couple of archaeologist from some sort of Norse werewolf demon/god(?). The movie fails in its attempts at horror throughout, as their monster isn't presented well early, and by the end is down right silly. The premise is interesting, but not much here to watch besides a few so-bad-its-good moments and Riegert.

Literate, well-written, and very cleverly done, with a fine, balanced cast.

Clearly these people wanted to do a quality horror film, but this just ain't there. At least it's not another lame slasher film
