I never really warmed up to these old Saint mysteries, regardless who was in the lead. There was always something a little too casual about it all. And of course never a major priority for RKO, even less so when transferring the production over to UK. Hugh Sinclair might be my least favorite, but he manages to hold this one together alright considering the lack of polish this production had. In the end it becomes a decent mystery without being anything remarkable. Just a very typical B-mystery.

Pretty boring. It's a story about murder, stolen gold and smuggler's caves, but it feels totally lifeless. The direction is flat, the supporting characters are all totally forgettable and some of the editing decisions are really weird and off-putting. Unfortunately, the two Saint films with Sinclair just lack the fast pacing and fun of the American films with George Sanders.
