Hugh Sinclair takes over from George Sanders, but lacks the screen presence and easy-going charm that made Sanders' Templar fun to watch. The MacGuffin-driven plot is straightforward, but not interesting enough to create any kind of suspense or mystery. Sally Gray puts in a high-spirited performance as an intrepid reporter, but she is cancelled out by Arthur Macrae's excruciating upper-class twit character (think Bertie Wooster, but even more idiotic).

RKO letting their British division do one of their Saint pictures replacing George Sanders with Hugh Sinclair as Simon Templar. That suited me fine for I found Sanders a bore as The Saint. Sinclair is not exactly Mr Charisma, but the chemistry between him and his hopeless helper Arthur Macrae worked nicely for a lighter episode in The Saint series. Got me in a good mood with Cecil Parker as a effective crook.
