The Samaritan

A complex crime story, sometimes overly dramatic, with Samuel Jackson doing a fine job as an ex-con grifter forced out of retirement by the son of his former partner. Ruth Negga was great as the junkie girlfriend. Pacing was erratic, but the acting and production quality was excellent. Deborah Unger's character did not make sense, and the ending is a ridiculous twisted mess that seemed overly rushed, but entertaining.

Jackson, with his constant presence in tremendous amounts of sub par quality films has had his "cool" watered down a bit over the years. He does however, still have some to spare. Not a good film, but if you just want a simple story to pass the t... Oh wait, it completely rips off another movie that was recently remade.

Pleasantly surprised with this one. Jackson does a wonderful job here and the girl who played Iris did a good job too. It had some twist and turns, wasn't super original by any means, but it was always entertaining.

A definite flavour of Oldboy to this one.

Ain't so bad. If you're anticipating the Americanized version of "Old Boy", you'll be disappointed.

Pretty low-rent when it comes to the performances, the writing, the production values, etc. Comes off mainly like a C-level HOUSE OF GAMES with a particularly unseemly twist at its center. But it's gorgeous-looking. Seriously. One of the best shot, best directed movies of the year to date. Pity about pretty much everything else, though.
