Movie putatively made for kids violently kills off beloved kids' figure, only to replace him with Tim Allen. Night terrors, years of therapy ensue.

I won't argue that this is a great movie, or even a particularly good one. However, Tim Allen is funny enough - and my nostalgia strong enough - to make it worth the occasional Christmas viewing.

This movie is so memorable that I completely forgot I watched it a few years ago for Christmas. I watched this all the time as a kid, and it has not aged well. No one in the modern world believes in the magic of Santa, and boy oh boy, GUESS WHO'S WRONG!!

The original and best of this bunch. Tim allen's quite good in this though the sappy ending reminds me this is primarily a kid's movie

Tim Allen is very charming as a reluctant replacement Sana in this winning contemporary Christmas movie. This is a unique twist on the Santa Claus myths that is both sweet enough for kids while being intelligent enough for adults. It is good to see Judge Reinhold in action again as well.

An innocuous family comedy that isn't too stupid.

I liked all the parts where Tim Allen was Santa. Thanks to this movie I spelt Santa Claus wrong for a disgustingly long time "He just won't stop dropping Tim Allen refz".

A clever idea for a comedy film, with fun actors and an enjoyable plot. Not the best film on the planet, but at no point during do I get anxious for the ending.

By far the best of the trilogy, a great blend of festive fun and well-written family drama. Tim Allen gives his best performance to date.

Not great, but it isn't a half-bad movie. The Santa Clause is somewhat magical. It's good but I can't come up with anything to say other than it's a cute family Christmas movie.

The cynic in me would describe The Santa Clause ( at least the 1st half) as a Republican's wet dream of dehumanising foreign children to justify institutional child labour. That said, it's actually a decent Xmas thanks to Lloyd's earnestness and Allen's sarcasm. While the film has some questionable logic and ethics, it's simple, fun and refreshingly (for 2020) straight-forward.

So sickly sweet. Another testament of why Tim Allen shouldn't act. Nevermind, he doesn't.

Probably one of the best Tim Allen films. Doesn't mean it's any good. Bonus points if you watch it around Christmas, which you'd be an idiot not to. Avoid the sequels. I would have if I had any choice in the matter. I didn't.

Santa Claus is murdered which is pretty cool, but really the movie is pretty boring. It has a cookie-cutter annoying child actor (What's with that haircut they give all children under the age of 12 in movies and TV?). There isn't much appeal here for adults, but some kids probably wouldn't mind seeing it around Christmas time.

Incredibly annoying child actor + Tim Allen recycling the same persona he uses in every performance + creepiness of other child actors + unfunny jokes + what feels like a 5-hour film = bad movie.

Ah the 90s....back when people seemed to believe that Tim Allen had some kind of talent. To think this assclown had one of the highest rated shows on American network TV for nearly a decade. *tsk tsk*

Christmas movies are a bizarre genre and it seems that the most reasonable way to judge them is in terms of their ability to induce festive feelings. This film succeeds in doing so (for me at least) and in the process it is sentimental, sincere, funny and importantly avoids becoming saccharine (but does get perilously close with the 'kid'). I think Allen is a most likeable Santa Clause and you cannot dislike Reinhold as the surrogate father.
