In London in the 1970s, Scotland Yard police investigators think they have uncovered a case of vampirism. They call in an expert vampire researcher named Van Helsing (a descendant of the great vampire-hunter himself, no less) to help them put a stop to these hideous crimes. It becomes apparent that the culprit is Count Dracula himself, disguised as a reclusive property developer, but secretly plotting to unleash a fatal virus upon the world. (imdb)

The one where someone accidentally spilt a Dracula onto a script about satanists bringing back the Black Plague. Dracula is killed by being tangled up in a bush. Other ways to kill a vampire you didn't know about: flick toothbrush water at them, wink at them, blow three kisses, mention you're vegan (don't have to be vegan for this to work).

Lee's last stand as Hammer's Dracula (though the series still had one more entry, _The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires_, to go) is another uneven modern vampire tale, though a slight improvement on its predecessor, _Dracula A.D. 1972_. This owes more to Ian Fleming, Sax Rohmer, and "The Avengers" than it does to Bram Stoker, but it does boast the usual fine turns from the Brit horror boys (though Chris has even less screen time than he did in _A.D. 1972_).

Milks the opening satanic ritual footage for all its worth; flashing back to it throughout the film. You know a movie's bad when it keeps flashing back to the best part. Cushing sinks his teeth into what little meat is thrown his way, but Lee gives barely a nibble to the bones he's tossed. Dracula seems to get less and less powerful as the series goes on and his death scene is sound in concept but incompetent in execution. Why bother?

As a satanic cult film this kind of work but the vampire elements were poorly done and doesn't add anything in fact it detracts more than anything. And why is Dracula even in this and that doesn't even make sense nor does how incredibly weak he is. Lame movie that started out rather well.

I'll always have a soft spot for this as it was my intro to Hammer. Lee is barely in it...almost as if his Dracula was a late addition to a film strictly about Peter cushing vs a satanic cult. The music is super 70s and super invasive. Im finding myself hardpressed to express in words why i find it charming and fun but whatever. This film is so strongly of its niche and era that if its series had started a decade later this might have been the one where dracula goes to space.

Purists will understandably hate this. The last film's pandering was painful (I don't like hippies or their UK equivalents or being forced to listen to a "groovy" band), but it was still a horror movie. This is more James Bond than Dracula (he even has an organization & plot to destroy the world). The studio lacks the budget to make good Bond & their agenda is too obvious to be an interesting hybrid. But I like the continuity from the last one & Hammer still makes sure to kill vamps in a new way

Don't watch this if you feel sleepy. Or maybe watch this if you feel sleepy. Depends what type of result you want.

A movie in which things occur, sometimes quickly and sometimes slowly. But things do occur. That is the highlight of this film.

Not awful, but pretty meh. Though the concept of Dracula wanting to end his own immortal existence and basically bring about the biblical apocalypse is a nice touch to Dracula lore... though it felt very much thrown in at the last moment, which Christopher Lee always complained about with these Hammer films. Still, worth it just to see him and Peter Cushing together one last time. Or in my case, the first. :P

By all means this isn't a bad film, and it's reasonably entertaining, but definitely doesn't have the charm of the better Lee outings, and was another indicator of Hammer losing its mojo. I quite liked the plot, and the cast were great - nice to see Lumley in an early role. It was very much dated to the seventies, though. For some reason I had an issue with the sheepskin jackets the inept security people were wearing; this bothered me unreasonably for the duration. It's alright.

At least it has the best disintegration of Dracula I've ever seen.

Starts off in an interesting way. In a way for us broken brained folks. With this secret blood ritual society governed by a famous scientist. After that it just isn’t what I want from Hammer. They start making a borderline James Bond movie out of it. Missing a lot of the looks and vibes of the great Hammer horror films. Lacks the budget and honestly the care or talent to make a James Bond homage work for them so it’s a slog to get through. A nail in the coffin for the once great studio. No pun

Drac leading a cabal of industrialists and politicians, and trying to wipe out humanity with a super-virus? What is this, a RESIDENT EVIL? Never not gonna love Lee v. Cushing though.
