Really enjoyed the first half, but the second half saw a lot of the humor fade. Still not bad, even if it wasn't the most believable plot

In many ways this movie is hard to swallow plot and is a little cliche, but I couldn't help but like it. It starts off rather amusing as John Standing tries to fit into life as his doppelganger Johnny Spence, particularly as he has to figure out the mess that Johnny is truly in. It turns much more serious in the second half, but this isn't unexpected. It is a movie that looks at the idea of redemption and righting wrongs that ends up a little cliche, but is packaged in an enjoyable movie.

A little hard to follow at first, and then just sort of silly.

This is an interesting story, based on the novel by Daphne Du Maurier and I enjoyed it for the most part. It has a bit of a TV film look or feel to it but its got some competent performances and its intriguing enough to be worth watching. Its not exactly a massively compelling watch, or at all a stand out watch but its interesting enough to be worth a watch, so yes, I'd recommend it on that basis.

Well ok, you have to swallow a whopping great elephant in the room to enjoy this ... unless they were identical twins, would it not be pretty obvious that someone was actually a different person, particularly when it was only a few days since you last saw the other one? it's not like they were vaguely similar characters! .... that said, this was a really enjoyable tale and well acted. It made me miss 1952, even if I wasnt actually born until 1953! Nice use of "fades" to "suggest" hanky panky :)
