As far as a Bob Custer western is concerned, The Scarlet Brand (1932) is one of his best. That's not high praise, as the cowboy star was responsible for some of the worst westerns of the era. He was at least decent here. Not exactly setting the screen on fire with that personality, but he gave off easy everyday guy vibes at least. Nelson McDowell was the main reason this poor western became somewhat enjoyable.
