Despite the title, not scary at all, and despite the very 2020 subject, still doesn't do much with feeling like a newer horror film. The plotting of this conspiracy is ridiculously threadbare, as the film seems more interested in developing meaningless lesbian relationships -- that's great for sex scenes, but not the plot. It's overall very incompetently made, but the acting and shot choices do improve as the film reaches its 'whatever' conclusion.

Viewed January 3, 2022. Translating modern-day apathy into a lo-fi 70s horror aesthetic is a novel and effective idea. Gains some life by not shying away from the specifics (I liked the sheer weirdness of the Pedophile Island drone footage; much scarier than any image Nekrasova could have come up with herself, & she knows it). It's often very funny in a way that speaks, with no shortage of irony & mordant cynicism, to the feeling of powerlessness that's so central to life in our present moment.

I don’t have a lot of the baggage with Dasha that a bunch of early reviewers of this film had. I don’t really know Red Scare or anything outside of the fact she dated Adam from Cumtown. That said, it’s a pretty decent first film. Wears its influences on its sleeve (giallo, EWS, and coke) like most first time directors. Composed and lit like a real movie! Was digging the way the characters talked to each other, but unsure if it was on purpose in an M night kind of way or they just can’t act.

Like the vast majority of people making their first films the influences are literally slapping you in the face. Luckily I like Roeg, Polanski, Giallo and Eyes Wide Shut. Liked that it was actually shot on film gave it an extra little charm. I’m not a fan of the way the characters interact and how it’s desperately trying to be like “unwoke”. There’s a certain type of person who’s political ideology revolves around Epstein and not ya know actual ideology who suck and this movie is kinda that

Weird shit happening all the time -- and this is still quite intriguing, but not good.

Memorable exercise in bad taste, not much plot.

Not to be a pedant, but shouldn't it be the Scary ON Sixty-First?
