Quite an enjoyable little number; it got under my skin a bit. Did it influence A Nightmare on Elm Street 3? Dunno, but some elements of this reminded me of it. It's definitely an interesting film with some decent ideas.
This is the first in a series of quarantine binge I plan to do for obscure 80's horror movies! Overall, not a terrible start. The Sender definitely has some weak links and spans of plot that could've been made more interesting, but with that being said, I didn't hate it. In fact, it kind of reminded me of that one Halloween flick that took place in the asylum. Solid, for the time and the premise.
Cool setup, lacklustre and cliche-ridden execution. You may as well stop watching at the electroshock scene, because it's not gonna get any better than that.
The Sender? More like ... ... ... The Snoozer. Ho ho ho
First act takes a few missteps, but nothing unforgivable, and builds a really effective atmosphere of mystery. Apparently this is easier to achieve in horror mysteries like this, than delivering on a compelling story to see us through the whole movie. Now if this had been shot on video for 20,000 like it deserves, I have a feeling it could have been a real masterpiece. Know your tier people.
