Well-shot and decently acted with a good message at its heart. It is, however, very slow,

Never mindblowing, but at its core is a sweet sense of decency and community that I found enjoyable. A few gorgeous shots and the rugged landscapes compensate for the slow tempo.

John Wayne for the first time in full color! He is a man full of hat for a father he's never seen. A tale that's heavy on the sentimentalities and equally heavy at the heart. Old Harry Carey is a stranger in the little rural village, but we all know who he is. That part is predictable, but how it'll enfold is not so clichéd. To me the end was a weird emotional twist. Not one that worked to it's full potential. Nonetheless a fair one in a warm film of hated and remorse.
