A role I thought Spencer Tracy would conquer to perfection, but he doesn't plays it with enough energy for my liking. I much preferred Ford Sterling take on the character some 8 years earlier. At least Tracy was better than Hal Skelly, who did the first sound adaptation of this play. Still a enjoyable little movie. Just not as fun as I'd hoped.

A relatively simplistic early Tracy movie. this is an adaptation of a play that had already been made into a movie once before and I doubt that Tracy did anything to improve what was already there. there were a couple decent moments here and there, but I'd bet that the skelton version in the 40's is better, which is hard to say about a movie starring Tracy.
