Sgt. Maj. Hafner (Ermy) and his platoon arrive in Firebase Gloria after receiving intel on a major VietCong offensive, only to find the firebase decrepit and it's commanding officer is more interested in looking at girly mags than mounting a defense. What I learned from this movie so saturated with testosterone I felt my balls explode about half-way through the second act: there are no atheists on firebases, there are women on firebases, but they don't belong there, a firebase is only as strong as it's weed-smoking, masturbating captain (and doubly so when he's smoking weed WHILE masturbating), you can only ninja-kick so many Viet Cong in a knife fight before one of them shoots you in the back, and PEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!11!!!1!!

Surprisingly good, though the somewhat cheap looking production design and B-movie acting hold it back.

Too cowardly to tread head first into the horrors of war, or the common dissenting perspective of the Vietnam war. This movie is a tone deaf facsimile of "Full Metal Jacket", or "Platoon", which shouldn't be surprising coming from an Australian filmmaker. It actually plays more like a 50's war movie only thirty plus years late.

I am a huge R. Lee Ermy fan, and he is in his element in this movie, playing a very convincing Sgt Major. The story is a bit weak in places, but the action was great.

Better than it has any right being, despite more than a handful of cheesy dialogue. The final battles at Gloria are spectacular!

Some good practical effects and tons of bullets being fired can't overcome a heavy handed story that comes off more like a Movie of the Week, than the hard hitting war drama that it intends to be. Some really bad and cheesy lines are forced by lesser actors resulting in some laughable moments that are supposed to be dramatic. Ex: "You went AWOL"...."I didn't go AWOL. I went crazy and I went to hell" Cheesy background music didn't help this either.
